Canterbury University hosts first ever media awards

Canterbury Christ Church University held a competition, organized by the media department for its students to propose and develop new marketing campaigns for some local charities.

Some of the charities involved included Kent Cancer Trust, Build a School and Thanet Animal Group.  At an awards ceremony on the 3rd May the five projects put forward by participants were presented and the judged.

The winning group called Degree Advertising, who were working with Build a school, made the best campaign. The group held fund-raising events in schools with t-shirts and other promotional material.

Ann Page, from the charity Build A School, said: “I was extremely impressed with the hard work and dedication  put in to help us develop ideas on fundraising and to raise the profile of our new sustainable living Tickbird Visitor Centre in Malawi. We are very excited about using some of the ideas in our future advertising and fundraising campaigns."

With such success from this project, the media department at Christchurch are planning to carry out similar events in the future
