Finding Canterbury on the map

If you ever though you knew exactly where everything was, a German website has designed a game where you have to drop a pin on exactly where a selected city or village is.

One of their many locations available is Canterbury. To be able to play the game contestants simply need to go onto a google map provided by the website which has had all road guides and place names removed. Once you have dropped the pin, the computer will tell you exactly how far you were from the actual town.

The Map Game is the brain child of Marek Luthardt from Unterfoehring in Germany. He said: "The original idea for this kind of map game came from TV quiz shows in Germany, where such games were played. I asked myself whether there existed such a game online - Google Maps would seem a good base for this type of quiz. There are some games like this out there, but none of them uses Google Maps, nearly all require Flash and/or a registration to be able to play. So The Map Game was created in March 2009 and since then experiences growing traffic and usage."
