Westgate Meuseum spectacular to open to public

The old Westgate in Canterbury, once one of the main entrances to pilgrims and visitors from around the world is being renovated into a new museum.

The tower museum originally faced closure due to lack of visitors, but a group of Canterbury businessmen raised money to help get the building and museum renovated. The meuseum now under new management is due to open its doors in late spring.

The renovation will see a new cafe and resteraunt, called the City Gaol, along with an updated meuseum for customers to visit. As a new venture even parts of the tower will be turned into accomodation, according to the towers website: " Five unique suites will be available in the original 1830 gaol and 1868 Police Station. With the Westgate Towers literally next door, we will offer luxurious accommodation at the very heart of the City".

as museums across the city face higher ticket prices to stay afloat in the recession, the new tower museum will have the lowest price of the city with £4 for adults, £2 for children and £6 for a family ticket.  Exclusivly to Canterbury News for all, we got a video of the construction taking place of the towers.
