Dryness hits the county

This spring has been one of the most dry in recent years. The lack of rain has meant the possibility of a drought hitting Canterbury and the surrounding area across the summer. However, resisdents have been told not to worry.

According to a recent statement by Kent County Council:" the south east has better provision than other parts of the country. We do not expect a hosepipe ban."

After recent fires hit Blean forest outside of Canterbury, causing a lot damage to acres of woodland, not all is bad for local farmers. Asparagus Farmers in Kent have found that the dry weather has meant an earlier start to the season.  A local farmer said: "It’s a short season so people should come and get it fresh and direct from the growers because the fresher it is the better its going to taste."
